About a month ago, the first workshop at The Kitchen began with Lumen Printing in the Woods, followed by Black and White Film Developing. We were spared from thunderstorms on days on either side of Lumen Printing for a lovely day of gathering plants and making prints.

The Film Developing workshop is limited to three people currently, which is a good size for working out the basement kitchen. I haven’t put away “film dishes” in a few years now, and the following sight actually gave me great joy —

Chemigrams: Cameraless Photography is scheduled for June 28th, which of course is my favorite process to teach. We will be working outdoors under the patio, rain or shine. It will be a great day to watch some birds, maybe see some turkeys, and see how photo paper and peanut butter can come together to make some amazing art.

Right now darkroom construction in the barn is on hold as our contractor had to take care of another project for awhile. This goes well with my timing of putting workshops on hold for July, as I prepare some online classes and travel to Barcelona for the Experimental Photo Festival. I’ll be leading the Horizontal Portfolio Review while there, and getting ready for some classes through their online school, Ágora.

I’ll also be sharing new work created here on the hill in my upcoming solo show “Now Is the Time / The Time is Now” at 411 Gallery in Columbus, Indiana.
